Getting Started: Video & Instructions

Create a New Course Step-by-Step.

From My Workspace:

 In the top right corner click New+ button to start a new Course. 

Add Title of your new course. Defaults to Untitled

Click the gear to edit the Title. 

 



Edit Thumbnails for course 

  • Change the Course Thumbnail

  • Change the Coach Thumbnail 

  • Save Coach Voice

  • Click Save 



Set the first Environment for the course
Upload and Set the first 360 Image. 

The Screen will be black. 


Click Update 360 Image or Set Environment

Upload the 360 Image

Options for uploading assets:

  1. Upload assets: Upload from your computer folders

  2. Search your files in My Files for previously uploaded images

  3. Transfer Thought Media are images that are provided for use by Transfer Thought 

  4. Search Google for free images

 

Once the image is selected, it will appear in the Course Creator. It is ready for your content.



Set View 

In the top of the screen you can see the Set View button. 

Use the mouse to scroll/adjust the image to the desired starting point.  
Click 
Set View.  This will establish the starting perspective for the trainee.

 


Create the course’s first step 

Edit the name of the Step.  Click the 3 dots, click Rename Step or double click on word to update Title.



Coach/Voice Instructions section-  At the bottom of the screen is the text narration for each step. The text content that will be converted from Text To Speech. The Coach will narrate the steps. (*If you do not add either a narration or an activity, the step will be passed by without any interaction for the trainee).

Copy and paste or type your text content here. It will be read aloud. There are several different coaches, accents/dialects to choose from. 

Always Click the Preview Audio to hear it. Edit as necessary



Add a New Step to begin the Content 

To add a new step, click New Step. and the previous step will be duplicated. 



This example is a Title Overlay Step.

ADD INTERACTION & CONTENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT

The content displayed to the trainee over the environment can be instructional with images, sound, video, links, clickable hotspots, hidden hotspots and more. 


The trainee will be immersed in the environment, interact and navigate through the content according to the coach navigating the trainee through.


Instructions Section: Text to Speech Coach Narration

Carefully craft the words that will be read to the trainee. Be very specific with your instructions. Preview the speech before moving on. The words entered will be read aloud to the trainee. If there is no other interaction required the step will advance to the next step upon the completion of the instructions. 


Types of Step Progression


Transcript: the step will progress after the transcript is completed. This is how all steps worked before.


Pause: the step will not auto progress and the user will have to hit the next button


Timeout: the step will wait X seconds after the transcript is over before progressing



An option for a step is to create content overlay media in the environment.

Clickable Hotspots & Buttons: Example below is a round circle that is clickable to identify an object on the screen. Once clicked the course advances to the next step.

  • Click Save 



Add Media to the 360 Environment: Add other media to the 360 image for instruction or for trainees to identify. For example add a 2d image, video, Instructional Text,

Add an overlay Image Example: ADD IMAGE HERE OR GIF 

Here are the Types of Overlays:

  • Narration Only - Coach will narrate with no user interaction required. Moves to the next step at the completion of the narration. This can be useful to instruct or teach material to a trainee. Perhaps you lay out the plan for the entire course. 

  • Title Overlay - A Title of the current step in large font on screen. Use this to introduce the next step. This step will advance on its own. (you can also have it read using the narration)

  • Image Overlay - Embed a 2D image over the environment - image overlay floats and moves with the trainee. 

  • Link Launcher - Add link to another website URL 

  • Embed Overlay - Obtain code to embed the course in  

  • Clickable Hotspots - Hotspots function is to prompt a call to action which will  advance to the next step once the user clicks the hotspot on the environment. 

  • Instruct your users: Be sure to verbally instruct the user to the call to action that is requested. 

The types of clickable hotspots.

  • Empty - Hotpsot is invisible to trainee forcing them to find it.

  • Circle - Insert a circle for trainee to click to identify an area 

  • Block - Circle with a line to indicate do not. Also clickable 

  • Touch Here - A finger to prompt a user to click to identify    

  • Walk - Walking figure to encourage advancing to a new area of the environment 

  • Arrows - Right,  Left, Down, Up 

  • Visibility - Eyeball Icon 

  • Visibility Off - Hotspot without an indicator. 

  • Thumbs Up &Thumbs Down 

  • Knowledge Check/Quizzes:

    • Multiple Choice - Text/Audio

    • Picture Choice - Images/Text/Audio

    


Add the Instruction to be read aloud to the trainee.

Choose Multiple choice

Edit the Step name, This is the Step Title on the Left navigation. 

Optionally add an image that will represent the quiz. 


Start to add the Multiple Choice



  • Click Add New Option + to add an answer choice.

    • Indicate the correct answer by filling the radio button. The correct answer advances the trainee to the next screen. 

    • The incorrect answer can have a verbal text to speech response read to the trainee. For example, “No this is not the right answer, try again” 

    • Clever designers add educational clues to hint at the correct answer: “No, tower cranes is not the answer. Tower cranes are used to xyz123. We are looking for the cranes that can do abc123”


Click the Settings Button to add a response for incorrect answers. 

  • The incorrect answer can have a verbal text to speech response read to the trainee. For example, “No this is not the right answer, try again” 

  • Clever designers add educational clues to hint at the correct answer: “No, loader crane is not the answer. Loader cranes are used to xyz123. We are looking for the cranes that can do abc123, try again”


Don’t forget to Click Save.

Embedded Google Search

  • Image Color - Transparent (color)
  • Image Type Photo (face, animation, clip art) 



Add the images for the quiz. 

Name each image which will be read aloud.

Indicate the correct answer by checking off the radio button to the left 

Trainee can Press the button to hear “Loader Crane” read aloud.


Add as many answers as desired. 


Advanced Interaction - request a interactive prop from Transfer Thought 's developers. 


Add Prop - Add an image to your environment. 

A prop may be placed to appear as a part of the environment and remain in place as part of the environment. (unlike the Image Overlay that floats)


Click Add Prop. 


Image search choices:  Search the embedded Google Search, that will sort for Transparent images or standard pictures, upload your own or Explore our library

Google Search from within the platform.



Completion - Last Step: If it is the last step of the course, Success Trophy & Confetti will show.

 


How to Publish the Scene: 

Click the Publish Button to immediately update and publish the content 

 


The course is now updated in all places that it has been added. 


BEST PRACTICES AND SUGGESTIONS. 


When you come to a new Step, First Set View: 

Then add the overlay. 


Trainee search for hotspots: If the trainee should scroll to find the hotspot, you may want to hide the spot so it is not obvious, you can purposely start at another point in the environment and ask them to “find” or look for the hotspot. 


How to: Clickable Hotspots. 


In this function you will click the top toolbar to Edit the Step Type:

In this instance we will choose Clickable Hotspots



Click insert Hotspot. 



Use cursor to move the hotspot to the desired location. When the user clicks the hotspot the user will advance forward to the next step. 

Be sure to add specific instructions that will be converted from text-to-speech and read aloud to the user. 


Be specific with instructions on what the trainee should do.  

Be very specific and direct with the needed steps to follow. 


Example:  Click the crane boom.
These words will be spoken and shown to the user


If you want the trainee to advance to a new room, or a new environment, you can add the new 360 image. And have the trainee click a button to be transported to the new scenario. 


On a new Step, click the Update 360 Image



Find the image and upload. Repeat the above process for the new image.


When you are ready for a new step, click Add New Step. 


OTHER OPTIONS FOR ADDING STEPS: When to insert, when to clone, when to add 


Click the 3 dots to the right of the Step. 

There are 3 Options: 

  • Rename Step

  • Insert Step

  • Clone Step
